Flames of War is a smaller scale (15mm) war game based upon World War 2. I'm very new into this hobby, but my son (soon to be 8) is exteremely interested in WWII. After meeting up with the man hosting the FoW tournament at Historicon in 2009, he ran us through a demo game and we were hooked.
I am happy to see that the rules translate very easily to Warhammer 40K, thus allowing me to pick up on the system rather quickly. We're still working on this, but have a large amount of USA forces, and some German forces we have been collecting.
I'd like to meet more folk who play this, so we can delve more into this hobby.
